Had an interesting civics period today. Went for some CCA best practices thingy, where people from their respective ccas present what their ccas are all about. Watched the presentations from canoeing, photographic society, malay dance and chess and bridge club. The canoeing talk was the most inspirational, and malay dance looked the most interesting.
I think that the shooting club has a lot to learn from the canoeing club. One thing which struck me was the part where they were made to run in pairs during the road-run. They did so to make sure that no one gets left behind. That there was always someone to look out for them. That's what team work is all about. In a team, it's useless if you have really good members but one or two who lag behind. For example during Nationals, even though some of the other teams had better shooters than ours, or shooters who just happened to perform better than us, they didn't win. The reason being that there were always one or two members in the team who shot poorly...around the 310s region. So overall, the team did badly. Even in shooting, you can't afford to leave anyone behind.
Shooting is a very individualistic sport. You take your gun out and head to the lanes to train. You shoot, you get your score. No one else can affect you if you don't let them. But then again... it's also a team sport. The team cannot depend on a single person to win. Everyone must shoot well. So yar. No one can be left behind.
They also talked about humility. Can't remember all the details of the presentation. But really admired the canoeists after that. I think the shooting club ought to draft out its values clearly and paste it somewhere in the range. This is especially important as shooting is about 80% mental and 20% physical. Haha. People need motivation.
And now I understand why ferleen would choose malay dance over shooting club, if she was made to choose. Malay dance seemed so fun! Invigorating, lively, exciting... And the people seem more friendly. It's quite evident that they're all having fun. Ahhh... I want to learn dance after As! And I also want to learn boxing. Ok. Yay. Two things to learn. And I want to master my drums... and look pro playing it hahahaha... Might take some time though.
Just want to do lots of stuff.
Before I turn grey...
