stars

Stars are just huge bodies of combustible gas in outer space. They generate heat and light by the energy created from nuclear reactions. We already know this much, and much more, about them. But why do they continue to captivate us? Maybe not all of us. Maybe only those who gaze into the night sky occasionally...in wonder... and fascination.

We already know that they are not mystical beings, as many had once believed them to be before the Age of science. But do you want to know what a friend of mine said? She said she believed that stars are actually people. That when people die, they become the stars in the sky. Or maybe that's what she would like to believe.

Ah well.

She heard from someone that there's going to be a meteor shower tonight. Ought to be able to see it at a dark place. Too bad, the place where I stay is pretty well-lit. Won't be able to see it then.

And she laughed when I told her that I once believed all the stars in the night's sky were aeroplanes. Cos the stars were always blinking red. So I thought it was the red tail lights of the planes. Moreover, Singapore is such a bright place at night. Didn't expect to see any real stars. Haha. Finally realised that they couldn't all be planes in sec 3 during a camp, where I saw many more bright lights in the sky.
