study guide

Examinations. Whoohooo...the As are coming! Yay...finally it's going to be over soon! Shall write down good studying habits. Which I forgot to practice over the past two years. Or just didn't do enough of. Might or might not apply to you. Cos we're different. Ok here goes.

- Know everything like the back of your hand. Re-read stuff which you find hard to remember...like inorganic chemistry. You should know stuff like what the alpha particle scattering experiment is. Know how to draw it too. It's Rutherford's gold foil expt by the way.

- The TYS is useful. For the As. Cos the way questions are asked in the As is quite different from how JCs ask. Remember, JC teachers are out to kill you. Don't panic if you get too simple a question. For physics, know how to describe and explain things thoroughly. Don't jump steps. I only know that's applicable for physics cos of physics tuition. Don't know about the rest.

- Use the correct terminology. If they're looking for a particular word, give it to them! Always give the examiners what they want. They'll be happy, you'll be happy.

- Sleep well. At least 8 hours a night. It's good for revision. I normally can't study well if I'm half asleep. Don't know if it applies to you too. I'll have to take a shot of coffee from the canteen dessert stall if I'm like that. It's not too good if I have to remember stuff cos coffee does something to your nervous system. Makes me too jumpy.

- Don't get too heaty. Drink lots of water and avoid stuff like chocolate. Eat more fruits. Don't care about weight. Will exercise after the exam. Just eat man. :P

- Be happy. I think I absorb more if I'm happy. And I'm not likely to be happy if I'm groggy so...yar.

- Talk to the book/notes if it helps. I like talking to my notes. No no they're not imaginary friends. Talk to them about concepts and facts and stuff. Ha.

- Find out your best studying conditions. If it's the library, go to the library. If it's at home, then stay at home. For me, it's definitely not at home.

- Don't make careless mistakes. They waste marks. So check. Write down stuff to help you see better. Not as if I'm very careful... ah well.

- Write legibly. It'll be a waste if you got the answer correct but got marked wrong cos the examiner didn't know what you were writing.

- Don't give up no matter what. It's never too late to chiong. Have control over your studying. Know what you don't know and know it. (I sound like a self-help book. Man...)

- Don't panic. It's just an examination. Just do it. Go to the exam hall and just do the paper. Treat it like another revision exercise, but treat it with a certain degree of seriousness so you don't get complacent. It's all about balance. So yar. No point hyperventilating. Doesn't help anyone, certainly won't help you.

- Be happy while doing the paper. Believe me, it's not impossible. Physics papers are actually quite fun to do. Chem is becoming a bit more fun.

- Don't waste time writing about how to do well in examinations. Go study! What on earth are you doing here!!! Dot!!!!!!!! Go away!!!!!!!!!!!! AAAAahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!

Got chased away. Seeya.
