chc nus orientation message

So far, I've been to the pharmacy camp, campus crusade camp and the chc nus orientation. The chc nus orientation was held last monday. It was quite fun. Various wet games, fashion show, night game etc. And I was the only girl in my group full of brothers lah. That's why we won. I was also in the winning group for the campus crusade camp haha.

But the highlight of the camp was the praise and worship and the word given to us by brother Darren. It's a really good message. So I'll write down my notes here. Hopefully it'll be as impactful as it was when I heard it.

Acts 3:36
"For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell asleep, was buried with his fathers, and saw corruption;"

David served God in his generation. But even though he was great, he died and was buried.
David's time is over. Today is our time.
How do we know we have a purpose here?
Because we are here!

God can raise up someone else to do your work if you are unwilling to do it, but things will be done differently.
And that someone else also has his own purpose to fulfill.

1. God created us for a purpose.
We are created to live for something greater than ourselves.
The living-dead: People living without a cause. Just trudging through life, waiting, living without purpose.

1 Samuel 17:29
'And David said, "What have I done now? Is there not a cause?"'

David wasn't satisfied with just tending sheep.
In the world today, there are many causes which people live for, e.g. world peace, nuclear disarmament etc.
But out of all the causes in the world, why not look for the highest cause to live for?
To live for God!

2.What you live for depends on your level of revelation.
How much God reveals to you and how much you see.
-Low-level living is a result of low-level revelation.

Matthew 16:16-18

"Simon Peter answered and said, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God."
Jesus answered and said to him, "Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven. And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it."

When Peter had a revelation of who Jesus is, he had a revelation of himself as well.
Peter discovered his purpose at that moment.
-When you have a revelation of who Jesus is, you too will have a revelation of your purpose in Christ.

John 8:12,14
12 Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, "I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life."
14 Jesus answered and said to them, "Even if I bear witness of Myself, My witness is true, for I know where I came from and where I am going; but you do not know where I come from and where I am going."

-When you totally know your purpose and destiny in life, you will live with great confidence.

John 8:32
"Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed."

-Many people know enough truth to trouble them, but not enough truth to set them free.
-God has a purpose for you. Nothing happens by chance. You have to join the dotted lines of your life to see the bigger picture.
-Build into your life moments where you can encounter God. Quiet moments alone. God doesn't just speak with words. He may give you pictures in your mind, visions etc.

3. We must choose to live our purpose.
-It may not be easy. It may be tough to juggle our work and everything else, but we are not ordinary!
We are supernatural. God can work wonders. Time management won't be a problem.

Psalm 110:3
"Your people shall be volunteers
In the day of Your power;
In the beauties of holiness, from the womb of the morning,
You have the dew of Your youth."

-Volunteers are not paid. So we must be willing.
-The power of God moves only where there is willingness.
-It's not a question of ability. God may not use some talented people because they are not willing to serve Him.
-God never forces us. He always gives us a choice.

John 18:37
"Pilate therefore said to Him, "Are You a king then?"
Jesus answered, "You say rightly that I am a king. For this cause I was born, and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice."

Jesus could have escaped death if He wanted to. But He did not, because His purpose for coming to this earth was to die for us.

-If what you're living for is not worth dying for, your life is not worth living!
- What's the point in saving all your energy?
-Is your purpose just an option or a commitment?
- Are you going to quit church just because it's tough? Or fall back on something else?

4. When you live radically for God, the power of God will come into your life.
-We'll know it through experience and encounters.
Are you willing to cross the line? And say that you'll serve God no matter what, even if there's no turning back?
-There will be great authority when you speak, when you talk about it through experience and not just by concept.

Mark 1:22
"And they were astonished at His teaching, for He taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes."

It's only when you're fully committed, that's when the power of God comes.
-If we are unwilling, it just becomes part of our schedule.
-Living for God means your whole life becoming part of God's schedule, not God becoming part of your schedule.

Galatians 1:12
"For I neither received it from man, nor was I taught it, but it came through the revelation of Jesus Christ."

-It's not going to be easy. But with a revelation, your life will be a flow for God.
A revelation of a Person, of Jesus Himself.

Galatians 2:20
"I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me."

Yar and a crusade girl just called me last night. She was nice and all. But I'm not sure whether I want to join crusade or not. I'll talk about it tomorrow.
